- The candidates cite among others, issues of questions and answers leakage
- The examination in itself has suffered a lot of criticisms in the last two years
A number LLB graduates who recently wrote the examinations for admission into the Ghana School of Law are demanding the cancellation of the paper. This follows allegations of a serious leakage of the exams questions hours before it started.
The concerned students claim that the leakage of the questions were not the only thing that went wrong. There was even a leakage of the answers in a marking scheme, according to the aggrieved students.
They even complained that the answer sheets they were given was meant for candidates in basic (BECE) and high schools (WASSCE).
As reported by Starr News, the students are calling for the dissolution of the examinations board.
One of them, Yaa Aasantewaa Opoku, spoke to Starr and reportedly said: “Some of the LLB holders are people with Masters and Ph.D’s and they have written professional exams before and we only got into the exam hall to be given BECE and WASSCE papers to shade on…so we are not just angry over the leakage of the paper, we are angry over their mode of doing things."
The student went on: “every student paid 450 Ghana cedis and we were 1,800 students so couldn’t they have done something with the Law School logo on it.”
Ms Asantewaa Opoku indicated that a petition has been drawn capturing their concerns. They are demanding the cancellation of the entire entrance exams and the dissolution of the Independent Exams Board.
The petition will be sent to the General Legal Council, the Chief Justice, the President and the Legal Committee of Parliament.
Entrance into the Ghana School of Law has in recent times endured a lot of bad press. Two years ago, the number of students who failed raised a lot of eyebrows and criticisms.
