- In the wake of the revelations made by the investigative documentary of Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the GFA was dissolved
- Alhaji Grusah was an avid critic of former GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi
Founder and president of the King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Grusah has indicated that he will be vying for the FA boss job after the proposed reforms have been implemented. As reported by herosportsgh.com, he was speaking with Kumasi-based Metro FM.
Football activities in Ghana have been halted following investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Number 12 exposé. In the piece Anas showed that some GFA executives including the former President, Kwesi Nyantakyi were caught on video misconducting themselves.
The behaviours of the top-ranked members were deemed unacceptable by members of the public. Government's hand was therefore forced to stop football activities.
Government, CAF and FIFA have joined heads to put proper structures in place to see football return in the country hence the institution of a two-man liaison team. The outspoken football administrator has indicated that he is ready to lead the football association when the dust is settled.
He reportedly said: “I will context for the FA PRESIDENCY after the reforms to put proper measures and structures in place to move Ghana football forward”
He also disagreed with suggestions that reforms should include welfare of football players. Grusah is of the opinion that some might steal a living from a process like that.
He said: “I don’t support the idea that all registered players salaries should be calculated in full and be deposited somewhere by their various teams so that it would be paid monthly to the players because someone will steal it and it will cause trouble within the football fraternity”
As a popular and senior figure in football administration over the last two decades, it may be rash to dismiss Grusah's chances of occupying the post he has twice contested for.
