The implementation of the law to levy vehicles with high engine capacities has finally taken effect.
From today (August 1, 2018), all luxury cars imported into the country will be taxed between GHc1000 and GHc2000.
According to the Ghana Revenue Authority, vehicles with engine capacity of 2950 Cubic Centimeters and more are required to pay respective levies.

But while the majority of Ghanaians are unlikely to suffer the consequences of this new tax regime, the bourgeoisies are the ones who will perhaps feel it.
This is because they are the ones who, can afford, and drive the luxury cars around town.
Below are some top Ghanaian personalities who are most likely to suffer most from the taxing of luxury vehicles.
1. Dr. Osei Kwame Despite
Businessman Dr. Osei Kwame Despite is one of the wealthiest men in this country and owns a variety of luxury vehicles to that effect.
As owner of the Despite Group of Companies, he will definitely be one of the persons who will pay more to the GRA in terms of tax due to the many luxury cars that he owns.
2. Kennedy Agyapong
Another rich businessman in the country who is most likely to dip his hands into his pocket for the luxury car taxes is Kennedy Agyapong.
The Assin Central MP owns a wide range of luxury vehicles and as such will be one of the persons who will be required to pay more taxes under the new tax regime.
3. Nana Appiah Mensah
From one cash king to the other, Nana Appiah Mensah is also very likely to feel the effect of the taxes on luxury cars.
The Zylofon Media CEO comes across as a man who loves to live life the simply way, but even with that, he may still pay more in taxes due to some luxury cars at his disposal.
4. Ibrah One
Young Ghanaian millionaire Ibrahim Dauda, popularly known as Ibrah One, seems to own some of the flashiest cars you could ever find in the country.
Ibrah is considered by many as one of the richest young men in Ghana due to his lavish and extravagant lifestyle. As a result, he will definitely suffer from the new tax laws.
5. Asamoah Gyan
Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is also a lover of flashy cars and you only need to see his gold Rolls Royce to know that he will be on the receiving end of the luxury car taxes.
The Kayserispor striker always steps out in different luxury cars and will therefore be one of the rich personalities to suffer from the new tax regime.
