It was a chaotic scene on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Madina, as workers of the Municipal Assembly Taskforce beat up traders in the vicinity.
Information available from MyNewsGH.com shows that the traders were assaulted for selling on the streets.
YEN.com.gh understands that the incident resulted in vehicular traffic as scores of pedestrians stood to observe the unusual scene.
The taskforce members, who were wielding hammers, were accompanied by police officers, as they seized some of the wares of the traders.
The reason behind their action, it has been revealed, was an attempt to decongest the streets.
Their action, which appeared to be a last resort, was after, the traders had been earlier forced off the streets, only to return on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
About 200 of them, it is alleged, were allowed to continue trading, after each had parted with GHC10.
Narrating their ordeal to MyNewsgh.com, the aggrieved hawkers accused the taskforce and the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Jennifer Dede Afagbedzi for mishandling them.
The aggrieved hawkers warned of voting against the Akufo-Addo administration during the 2020 elections. Meanwhile, three of them were arrested in the process.
