- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is looking to elect a flagbearer for Election 2020
- Victor Gbeho believes that NDC is better placed to win with Joshua Alabi
A senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), James Victor Gbeho, has called for the support of the members of the party and its grassroots, to support Prof. Joshua Alabi to become the next flag bearer of the party.
Meeting a number of the party's supporters at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, the former ambassador said that upon deep contemplation and an understanding of the politics on the ground, Prof. Alabi looked like the best.
The NDC is looking to elect a flagbearer for the 2020 general elections. Names have been put in put out both in suspicion and in certainty.
Gbeho said: “My brother (Hon Ken. Dzirasah) and I sat down one afternoon by the riverside in Sogakope.
We thought a lot about our party. We thought a lot about the younger generation. And we asked ourselves who can lead us now? After consultation, we agreed that our best hope was in no other person than Professor Joshua Alabi.”
Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Nandowli MP, Alban Bagbin and former health insurance authority boss Sly Mensah are among those who are interested in leading the NDC. But Mr Gbeho believes that Alabi had best shot among the lot.
Gbeho continued in favour of Alabi: “He is well known among the base of the party and represents a credible image for the NDC. He has served in many capacities, Minister, regional Chairman, Chairman of Boards, and so forth.
And he is in contact with people who know Ghana well abroad and who would cherish the opportunity to work with us on the Socialist International level.”
