- Boakye Agyarko has been sacked as Energy Minister
-This follows reports that he misled President Akufo-Addo over the new Ameri deal
- The Energy Ministry's PRO has suggested Agyarko was not the only one to blame
President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday, August 6, sacked the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the head of communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin.
"President Akufo-Addo has asked Mr. Boakye Agyarko to hand over his office to the minister for lands and natural resources, John Peter Amewu, who will act temporarily as minister for energy until a substantive appointment is made," parts of the statement read.
The decision to fire Boakye Agyarko comes after reports that the president was misled when he approved the controversial new Ameri deal for parliamentary consideration.
Though the sack letter did not communicate exactly why he was axed from government, it is believed that these 5 key factors may have been part of the reasons.
But it looks there is more to the new Ameri deal and the subsequent sacking of Boakye Agyarko than meets the eye.
The Public Relations Officer of the Energy Ministry, Nana Damoah, is suggesting that his boss may have not been in the deal alone and has event subtly threatened to blow the secrets behind the whole saga.
Immediately after the news of his boss' sacking became public, the spokesperson for the ministry took to Facebook to post: "It’s time for the emails. Let’s play. He is to blame abi? He did it alone right? Ok."
While his post may have only carried a subtle threat to expose others involved, Nana Damoah has come under a lot of criticism for it.
Many of his followers have deemed his outburst as childish and blasted him for it.
But some hours after the post, Nana Damoah edited his post to read: "It is only right now that I step down. May the good lord see the rest through. Thank you all."
It is not known what influenced his decision to step down quietly after his earlier threat to reveal secrets.
Whether it was the social media backlash that greeted his threats or he was impressed upon, we may not know.
But one thing is for sure, he seems to something that would have been interesting to hear.
