- The policeman captured in the assault video at Midland S&L has been granted bail
- He was granted bail together with some staff of Midland Savings and Loans
Lance Corporal Godzi Frederick Amanor, the Police officer who assaulted a Madam Patience Osafo at Midlands Savings and Loans, has been granted a GHC 60, 000 bail with two sureties by an Accra Circuit Court.
According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Starrfmonline, three others, Joycelyn Kukua, the operations manager of the company, Shirley Portia Anaman, customer care officer and Prince Ayensu, a driver of the company were also granted bail on analogous terms.
Lawyer for Lance Corporal Amanaor, Mr. Kweku Adjei Lartey, said section 73 of the court act allowed for an out of court settlement leading to the bail being granted.
Amanor was charged with assault at the court, presided over by Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye while the three officers were charged with abetment.
During his first appearance in court over the matter, he pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
The court remanded him to reappear for the next hearing where he has been granted bail.
He was seen being led out of the court house in a hoodie to avoid his pictures from being taken by journalists who were at the circuit court to follow up on the case.
A few weeks ago, social media went into a frenzy over a very worrying video involving the Lance Corporal assaulting Patience Osafo, a 36-year-old nursing mother carrying a baby.
The video received a lot of condemnation on social media with the masses calling for the head of the policeman in the video.

Not long after the video went viral, many government bodies and individual condemned the act resulting in the immediate arrest of the policeman.
Reports have it that the matter is being handled by the top hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service.
The lady in the video, has had her life transformed after the incident owing to the fact that many Ghanaians have dug deep into their pockets to support her financially.
Recent checks conducted indicate that she has already received cash donations to the tune of GHc 40,000 already.
Top management at Midland Savings and Loans have officially apologized to the lady and the general public. The financial institution has also handed over keys to a 2-bedroom house to the lady.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has also spoken against the abuse and has admonished law enforcers to protect citizens rather than abuse them.
