The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fraternity has been thrown into morning following the death of legendary star, Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart.
Jim, best known by his fans as "The Anvil" and the father of current WWE superstar Natalya, died on Monday morning, August 13.
News on Jim's death was first announced by his former in-ring rival B. Brian Blair via Twitter and later confirmed by WWE.
“WWE is saddened to learn that Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart passed away,” the company wrote on its website.
“WWE extends its condolences to Neidhart’s family, friends and fans," the statement added.
Prior to ending his wrestling career spanning to 24 years, Neidhart battled substance abuse issues, which often led to arrests and multiple trips to rehab.
Earlier, ex-WWE wrestler Chris Nowinski opened up in a July Instagram post that Neidhart was battling Alzheimer's disease, but the post has since been edited.
The greatest height of his career is when he, alongside his brother-in-law of Bret “Hit Man” Hart formed the legendary Hart Foundation tag team that won two WWE World Tag Team Championships.
Since his death, tributes have poured in from both his fans and WWE superstars, including Ric Flair and The Iron Sheik who shared their condolences and memories of Neidhart.
