Police brutality of civilians is not a new thing in Ghanaian society. But it seems the phenomenon is gaining new degrees of concern for Ghanaians because it is being caught on camera and it is being shared on social media.
According to Mynewsgh.com, a police officer has been caught on camera beating up a man identified as a carpenter. The name of the police officer was given as Corporal Henry Lamptey.
The video which is a little less than two minutes shows a brawl between more than two people. A man in a police uniform was also involved in the incident.
According to the reports, a woman who attempted to stop the beating was hit hard in the face by the policeman. The woman in question reportedly fell into coma after she was hit and fell to the ground.
The victim, a carpenter by name Kwabena is purported to have refused to fix furniture for the policeman. According to the story, the officer had been using the services of the carpenter without paying.
