The church, based in Santa Cruz, California, United States, recently relocated to a new space described as a “food lounge” with “plenty of beer taps”.
According to fox8.com, the food lounge is a temporary space for the church in transition, which plans to open a new space, complete with its own brewery, next summer.
YEN.com.gh gathers that the church plans to donate 30 to 60% of the brewery’s profits to charity.
“There’s nothing in the bible that says you can’t drink alcohol in a responsible manner,” Chris VanHall, Greater Purpose Community Church pastor, was quoted to have said.
Vine pair notes that the crossover between beer and Christianity has existed for centuries, with monks brewing beer since medieval times. In recent years, craft breweries like Reformation Brewing in Woodstock, Ga., and Black Cloister Brewery in Toledo, Ohio have been founded by former pastors.
The church’s message reads: “Beer is a beverage centered on community. When consumed responsibly, it can bring people together in ways traditional worship can’t. We’re here for it.”
These strange times of religion connects the California church with our report that a pastor in the Awutu Breku District of the Central Region who mistakenly leaked a nude video of himself and someone's wife.
According to several reports, the married woman was a member of the church who had been with her husband for the past six years.
The video which has spread in the Awutu Breku township has caused the police to step in and are currently on a manhunt for the pastor over the act.
