Champions League holders Real Madrid have reportedly launched a fresh bid of £269 million to sign Paris Saint Germain superstar Neymar before deadline transfer day.
The Galacticos suffered a 4-2 to Atletico Madrid in a disappointing defeat in post Cristiano Ronaldo's era in the UEFA Super Cup clash on Wednesday, August 15.
Los Blancos are yet to replace the Portugal international, who joined Juventus this summer in a £99m deal.
Neymar spent four years in Spain playing for Real arch rivals Barcelona before making a staggering £198 million move to the Ligue 1 champions last year.
However, the former Santos star has been speculated with a move away from the Parc Des Princes barely a year after joining the club.
Julen Lopetugui has two more weeks to make all the signings he wants and make his squad look convincing as against their shambolic display in the Super Cup.
Daily Star quoting Spanish new outlet Sport claims Real president Florentino Perez is lining up a huge £269m bid to make the deal happen.
They temper the news, however, by reporting that such is bid is only likely to be tabled should PSG be forced to sell due to UEFA handing them a serious punishment.
The governing body are currently investigating certain sponsorship deals presented by the Parisian club.
Meanwhile, Yuri Berchiche who played alongside Neymar at PSG believes Real have a good chance of signing the 26-year-old forward should they attempt to.
"I see him returning to Spain but more in white than in blue and red," he told El Larguero.
"He was very happy at Barcelona. He still likes La Liga because I spoke with him about it, we have a good friendship, and he's a fantastic person.
"If he joins Madrid I wish him the best of luck."
NAIJ.com previously reported that Real Madrid were ready to sign Brazilian football star Neymar at the end of the season.
Neymar made a world record transfer move to Paris-Saint-Germain from Barcelona last year August, and he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since January 2018.
There are even reports that the Spanish club have met his father for him to help them convince his son to leave France for a return to Spain.
