- The Blues continued their impressive win run in the 2018-19 Premier League season
- The Stamford Bridge side beat Arsenal 3-2 to make it two wins out of two games
- Meanwhile Sarri has expressed his displeasure with his players after throwing away their two goals lead in the first half
Maurizio Sarri clinched his second victory and first home home Chelsea win the 2018-19 Premier League season when his side beat Arsenal 3-2 at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday, August 18.
The Blues went two goals up in the first 20 minutes of the meeting but conceded two quick goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half of the meeting.
Marcos Alonso's timely finish ensure the Italian manager claimed his second victory in the ongoing EPL campaign.
However, the former Napoli boss has expressed disappointment in his players letting down their guards and allowing those goals from almost denting their 100% win ratio.
"In this period for us it's not easy to gain points," Sarri said after the game at the Stamford Bridge
"Three points is an important target for us, we did very well for 75 minutes but inside that, 15 minutes were horrible.
"It was very, very difficult because we lost the distances between the players and we were unable to cover the lost balls and press like a team, so we were really in trouble.
"But I think the players were really very good because at 2-2 it was not easy with Arsenal. In the second half we did very well also mentally."
Eden Hazard and Mateo Kovacic were limited to cameo appearances off the bench and Sarri revealed fitness concerns motivated his decision to put them on the bench.
"In this moment they are not able to play the full 90 minutes," he said.
"Also, I think to play 25-30 mins when the intensity of the game is going down, is better. "I think Mateo can become a great player."
NAIJ.com previously reported that Alex Iwobi slammed his Arsenal teammates following their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at the Bridge on Saturday.
The 22-year-old scored a superb goal that leveled up for the Gunners in the first half but a Marcos Alonso's stunner in the 81st minute ensured they suffered their second straight defeat in the 2018-19 campaign.
Unai Emery's men got their season started with a 2-0 home defeat to champions Manchester City on match day one.
