- MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has referred to NDC supporters as beggars
- He stated that some of them are always begging for money and therefore need to appreciate the double track system
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has called on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to support the double track system.
The new system allows one group of Senior High School (SHS) to be in school, as another group is on vacation.
Even before the introduction of the system, some Ghanaians, who are allegedly NDC members have raised objections to it.
Reacting to this, Kennedy Agyapong stated that “these NDC members are always begging us for money, and they are opposing a system which will allow their children be in school?”
He urged the NDC to stop the cheap politics and support such a noble initiative by President Akufo-Addo.
According to President Akufo-Addo, “with this system, each track will be in school for specific days for each semester and go on vacation and come back for the second semester. While the first track is in school, the second track will be on vacation and vice-versa.”
Former Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has however argued that the poor planning by the Akufo-Addo-led government is the cause of the introduction of the two-track senior high school system.
