YEN.com.gh has sighted a video of a man believed to be an Evangelist preaching the word of God in the English language on the streets of Hanover, Germany.
The video which was posted by Panji Anoff, saw the preacher pacing around in a public space and proselytizing to bystanders and people who were going about their normal activities.
Some people who are believed to be members of the evangelism team were seen videoing the session for record sake.
Panji however was not enthused by the episode and vented his anger after posting the video.
He captioned the video, “See where Ghanaians carry wanna nonsense reach: Hannover city-center, Jhermine(sic) Is this the height of insanity?? Preaching in a foreign language?? Waa look.. Ihn church member dey video am claim fans, somebody dey video am give police, wey me too i dey video give Twitter..”
Some social media users who also saw the video, went up in arms and blasted the preacher for his action.
One Twitter user, Moni Combs, who could not believe what he was watching wrote, “They brought Christianity to steal our gold so - so we have redefined Christianity and taking it there to steal what?!”
Another user, Kofi Barimah, who came in with history about Christianity remarked. “I like your assertion of robbing Africa with the “gospel”’. How true. They have no belief in the Bible but proffered it on Africa knowing it is mythical. They have magnificent churches, built in an era in which they were believers (before the Renaissance), that now are monuments”
Onui, was at a loss as to why the an of God was preaching in a foreign language and commented with, “Germany? Lol didn't these people rob Africa with this same "gospel". He thinks it wise to go preach to them in English. Wow. Take a better picture of him and let's find his family members to go for him. Such a disgrace”
Nana Takyi Boateng added his voice to the bashing with, “They will just be in one corner and mocking us,mtcheew u think you know Jesus pass white man?”
Koo Gyebi also wrote, “The missionaries were from the land of these people. Now Africans are now trying to teach them what they brought to Africans. Interesting”
However, one Twitter user, Batoi, did not see anything wrong with what was happening and asked, “If he's preaching the correct thing then how is this bad.”
Evangelism is not a new thing in Ghana, pastors are seen in almost every corner of major streets preaching the gospel to passersby.
Some evangelists even join commercial vehicles on long trips and spend time with passengers by preaching the gospel.
It is almost a normal thing to see pastors preaching with loud PA systems at major lorry parks oin the country.
