Taking into consideration his stance on the controversial deal, he has been considered a thorn in the flesh of the government.

Speaking on a local radio station, Hon. Garlus revealed that his constant attacks on the deal resulted in the attempt to get him to support it.

The AMERI deal, which became a matter of hot political debates, was rejected by Parliament, even after being approved by the presidency.

It reportedly led to the dismissal of the then Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, soon after President Akufo-Addo has stated that he was misled with respect to the details.
