Mahama explains why he decided to contest as NDC’s flagbearer

- John Mahama, has in a video, explained the reason why he decided to run for the position of NDC's flagbearer

- He stated that he owes a duty to God and to Ghana to win back power for the NDC

- He added that he intends to right all the wrongs of the past and to put an end to the cries of Ghanaians

Former President John Mahama, has explained in a new video, the reason he decided to contest for the flagbearership slot of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, he has deeply pondered and prayed about his next political action, and believes he owes both God and Ghana, a duty to win power for the party.

Through Daniel Ohene Agyekum, Ghana’s former ambassador to the United States of America, Mahama presented his official letter of intent at the party’s headquarters at Adabraka.

In the video, he explained that he has taken time to ponder over the decision and has had discussions with a cross-section of Ghanaians.

He further noted that he intends to right the wrongs of past and to put an end to the cries of the people under the current dispensation.

Mahama added that the 2020 elections will present the NDC the opportunity to offer yet again, visionary leadership driven by a commitment to create opportunities for all our people, not just a few.

Even before his formal announcement, a number of NDC members had revealed their intention to contest for the same position.

Notable among them are the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, Former CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, Sylvester Mensah, for Minister of Trade, Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Professor Joshua Alabi, and NDC Communicator Stephen Atubiga.
