Abdul Salam sued $700,000 for stealing movie?

- An award-winning Ghanaian movie producer has been sued for movie theft

- The reports have it that he sold the stolen movie to a channel on DSTV

Renowned Ghanaian movie producer, Abdul Salam Mumuni, has been caught in the web of alleged movie theft and as a result, has been sued by another company to the tune of $700,000.

According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on MyNewsGh.com, a company known as Perfect Entertainment was laying claim to the movie titled ‘’Perfect Love.’’

The report continues that the company was accusing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Venus Films, Abdul Salam Mumuni of allegedly stealing and selling the movie to ROK TV, a channel on Multichoice, DSTV.

According to the originators of the movie under contention, he was reported to have sold the movie without their consent which is why they have sued him and are making monetary demands to the tune of $700,000.

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Perfect Entertainment, Mr Nana Kwabena Adu Acheampong, on seeing the movie being screened, they contacted the CEO of Venus films in the person of Abdul Salam Mumuni who admitted selling the movie to ROK TV.

The multiple award-winning movie producer is reported to have requested for an out of court settlement so that the matter was not blown out of proportion.

Checks have however revealed that a Kumasi high court is expected to sit on the case on Friday, August 24, 2018, though the petitioners are still open to negotiations on the deal.

A flier of the movie reveals characters like Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win, Juliet Ibrahim, Van Vicker, Kweku Manu, Prince David Osei among others.

This is not the first time such an incident has been reported.

Sometime last year, award-winning director, Kofi Asamoah, popularly known as Kofas, was accused by a South African director, Timothy Greene, for stealing his movie idea, ‘Skeem’, in his Ghanaian adaptation known as 'John and John.'
