He added that the unity walk should have been preceded by elections at the branch, constituency, regional and national levels.

The NDC has organized a number of unity walks in recent times, with the objective of bringing the members of the party together.

It has been held in several regional capitals, with a number of party stalwarts getting involved.

Mensah however argued that the walks lacked the necessary ingredients necessary for the unification of the members of the party.

Other party members have also criticized it, claiming that the exercise was an attempt to constantly keep Former President John Mahama in the limelight.

This has fueled suspicions that Mahama secretly financed the walks, to serve as a precursor to his selection as the party’s flagbearer.

The leadership of the party, has however rejected the claims, saying it was purely to unite the party ahead of the 2020 general elections after its performance in the 2016 elections that left many of the party members disgruntled.
