It was a sombre atmosphere as the mortal remains five family members who died in a fire incident at Dansoman last week were laid to rest on Sunday.
Tears and grief took over the funeral ceremony as all present found it difficult to hold themselves together over the painful demise of the family.
They were identified as Mrs. Linda Kessie, the 31-year-old wife of an SDA pastor; her mother, Grace Ampah aged 65; her 3-week-old baby Jason Kessie; Jaiden Kesse aged 5; and Precious Pokuah aged 9.
According to an eyewitness who narrated the incident, the fire started at dawn but everyone around was powerless to stop it from spreading.
Since the story came up in the news last week, there has been a lot grief expressed by Ghanaians on social media especially after the funeral posters were released.
But the grief reached its crescendo on Sunday when the deceased were laid in white coffins surrounded by bouquets of flowers.
The sight was too much to behold for the bereaved pastor, Ebenezer Ato Kessie who, Graphic.com.gh reported, could not hold his tears and had to be restrained by family members as he filed past their remains.
A sister of Linda Kessie who read her tributes and that of children who died in the inferno broke down after reading that of the three-week-old baby.
The five were buried at the Gbawe cemetery in Accra.
