Christ Apostolic University College came into existence in 1917, as a Bible School Training center for pastors. Since the pastoral training was intermittent, the training center remained vacant for the better part of the year. For that reason, there was a University project conceptualization meeting in May 2007 where a proposal for the turning of the training center into a University was part of the agenda. After several meetings that year, the team came to a consensus in October 2007. The agreement of the meeting that took place in October. The meeting aimed at turning the training center into a facility for offering tertiary and degree programs, which marked the birth of Christ Apostolic University College.

The government of Ghana under the National Accreditation Board saw the need to grant the Christ Apostolic University College an official approval. The genesis of the approval process was an authorization which would last two years. The granting of permission was on 19th February 2010. The approval was to kick off on 1st February 2010. The approval was evidence enough that the accreditation process would be successful. In July 2010, the Christ Apostolic University College got approval as an affiliation of the University of Cape Coast and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The National Accreditation Board officially accredited the Christ Apostolic University College on February 15, 2011. The university college has been in operation since then.

Admission requirements for Christ Apostolic University College

SSSCE candidates

For a candidate who sat the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), he or she is expected to have attained passes in six subjects. GBCE/ ABCE candidates

For a candidate who sat the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) or the Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE), he or she should have attained passes in three compulsory subjects. The compulsory subjects include Mathematics and English language. The candidate should also score a Pass in the remaining three subjects which should include Business Mathematics.

'O' level candidates

Candidates who have recently sat their O levels can apply for the Christ Apostolic University College courses, only if they meet the following entry requirements; five credits, which include Mathematics and English language and GCE 'A' 2 passes.

Top up qualifications for level 200/300

There is another category, the top up qualification for level 200/300 candidates. This category offers a better deal for the candidates according to their academic qualifications. For the prospective candidates who are holders of Higher National Diploma with at least a Second Class Lower division in their disciplines, and have proof of post-qualification experience in either of their disciplines, they automatically gain entry into level 300.
