Former Manchester City ace Yaya Toure is nearing a return to Greek giants Olympiakos.

According to a UK Mirror report, Toure's agent disclosed on Tuesday night that the midfielder had already passed the mandatory medical test in London, sparking rumours the Ivorian ace was joining a London-based Premier League club as a free agent.

However, Toure has agreed to return to familiar terrain at Olympiakos, the club he first joined in 2005 and had the honour to claim the double before switching to Ligue 1 giants Monaco after the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

The 35-year-old Toure is expected to smile to the bank with a salary of about £2m after tax in Greece.

However, the Ivorian will not be qualified for Thursday's Europa League showdown against Burnley even if the deal goes through before game time.

The Greek side Olympiakos currently enjoys the bragging right with a 3-1 lead and Toure will be an added boost going forward.

The Ivorian ended his eight year stay at the English topflight at the end of last season after the Citizens refused to offer him a new deal at the Etihad.

Toure was keen to remain in the Premier League but had no concrete offer on the table to seal a deal.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Manchester City gaffer Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ivory Coast football star Yaya Toure will leave the club at the end of last Premier League season.

The former Barcelona handler stated clearly that the 34-year-old is not part of his plans for the defence of Manchester City Premier League title and also in the Champions League.
