Newly trained teachers protest against license exams

Newly trained teachers have protested against the introduction of licensure exams. The group claims that the intended examination is a strategy by the government to cut down on the employment of teachers and deny them and the dependents of their livelihood.

It all began when the National Teachers Council (NTC) gave the announcement that teachers would have to pass a special licensure examination before being granted the license to teach.

The move, according to the council, is aimed at enforcing discipline and eliminate non-performing teachers from the system.
