- Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum has jumped to the defense of Dr. Mensa Otabil with regard to the collapse of the Capital Bank
- According to him, the one without sin should cast the first stone
- He went ahead to proffer solutions to the challenges facing the Ghanaians business sector
The Founder and President of Groupe Ndoum, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has in a post on Facebook, risen to the defense of Dr. Mensa Otabil, the Board Chairman of the defunct Capital Bank.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, he said that Ghanaians need to examine the effects of unpaid loans on the operations of banks.
In his opinion, there are instances in which the government of Ghana owes the banks, and is yet to take steps to settle the debts.
Quoting John 8:7 (King James Version), he stated that those without sin, should cast the first stone and condemn the banks.
He went on to say that it is necessary to ensure that those behind the collapse of the seven local banks whose licenses have been revoked by the Bank of Ghana (BoG), be investigated.
Dr. Ndoum added that the likelihood of bias in Ghana’s business environment cannot be ignored as it appears there is an attack on specific sectors of the economy.
He further noted that efforts to recount wrongdoing are not needed, and as such there is the need to find solutions, as the economy, jobs and the well-being of Ghanaians are at stake.
In the year 2017, the BoG announced that the GCB Bank has assumed the assets and liabilities of the then Capital Bank and UT Bank.
In August 2018, it again announced that five banks, Sovereign, Construction, Royal, Beige and uniBank, have been merged to form the Consolidated Bank of Ghana.
