- Delay has revealed her ambition of becoming Ghana's president
- The popular broadcaster is considering a run in 2032
- She made the revelation in a post on her Instagram page
Ghanaian on-air-personality, Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, has declared her intention to contest for president.
According to the popular broadcaster, she intends to run for the position in 2032.
The popular TV presenter, however, failed to give details on how she intended to contest.
In a post on Instagram, Delay wrote: "I want to run for president in 2032 #DelayforPresident2032"
Since Delay made the announcement on Instagram, many of her followers have expressed their support for her, with some urging her to contest even earlier than 2032.
@redscorpiongh thought 2024 would be better:"@delayghana not sure why you chose that year... let's do it in 2024. The question is under what flag...political party I mean"
@espinozah_papa offered to sponsor t-shirts for Delay's campaign: "That's too far away, u can come after Bawumia and we will vote for u and campaign for u as well. I will sponsor all your T-shirt"
@archiosbee also thought Delay should contest earlier than 2032: "That’s too long why not at age of 40 yrs ⁉️ Will come home for good if you become president. Wish you the best and hope your dreams will come true by the name of God Almighty."
@urban_mixx wished her all the best:"@delayghana you can win my sister. I believe you big time. You have never lost anything you have ever set your eyes on. All the best. Delaaaaay. @urban_mixx waiting for you in the United States, Washington Dc."
@pattyluv2013 described Delay as Ghana's version of Hillary Clinton: "Ghana’s Hillary... go you, my strong woman!!"
But a few of the followers disagreed with Delay's 2032 presidential ambition:
@shatta_black_wale thought she would not win: "Don't worry yourself, dear, Ghanaians would disgrace you like how you do to some of our artists in Ghana."
@kumasylvesterjunior also sarcastically stated that Delay could only be president in Somalia: "I don't think in Ghana, but can only happen in Somalia"
Born some 36 years ago, Delay has been in the entertainment industry for over 10 years.
Having started as a radio presenter with Life FM, Delay moved to Nkosuo FM and Top FM, before becoming a household name at Oman FM.
She is also the executive producer for the Afia Schwarzenegger, Cocoa Brown, and The Delay Show TV programmes.
The popular presenter has also ventured into other businesses like manufacturing and trade.
Her Delay Mackerel and Smooch Boutique businesses, especially, have been very successful.
To underline the success of her businesses, Delay recently revealed that she bought two houses in Accra in 2017 from the proceeds.
For a woman, who recently revealed that she once slept at a mechanic's shop because she was thrown out by her aunt, Delay could be said to have done well for herself.
It will be interesting to see how Ghanaians receive her candidacy if she actually contests for the presidency in 2032.
