Kumawood's Kyeiwaa now dish washer in USA – journalist claims

The collapse of the Ghana Movie Industry seems to be bringing harsh realities on some of its actors and actresses.

Information gathered by YEN.com.gh on Ghanaweb.com is that popular Kumawood actress Kyeiwaa, has been reduced to a dish washer in the United States where she currently lives.

This revelation was reportedly made by the host of Adom TV’s Morning Talk Show, Nana Yaa Brefo.

According to her, Kyeiwaa, also known as Rose Mensah, now washes bowls and sells food in the USA to make ends meet.

Nana Yaa Brefo made this revelation while speaking to Kumawood actor, Papa Kumasi, on the Badwam show.

The host made this disclosure when the two were discussing the poor financial state of the movie industry in Kumasi and the quality of their movies.

Using Kyeiwaa as a reference to buttress her point that the movie industry has collapsed, the outspoken host revealed that Kyeiwaa now sells local food and washes plates for survival in the United States, where she currently lives.

If your industry is well and kumawood stars are well paid, why would Kyeiwaa relocate to the US, where she now sells food and clean dishes for survival?” she quizzed Papa Kumasi.

Papa Kumasi, however, denied having knowledge of the allegation and said he had no idea what Kyeiwaa was doing for a living in the USA and cannot accept Nana Yaa’s allegations as truth.

Kyeiwaa remains one of Ghana's popular actress who raise to fame following her back to back feature in Kumawood movies.

She is seen as a comic character, and many times, acts as a witch or bad person in the movies.

The actress left for the USA after the collpase of the movie industry.

She has acted alongside other heavyweight actors and actresses including Nkansah Lil Win, Akrobeto, Kwaku Manu, Mercy Asiedu, Agya Koo, and many others.
