Residents at Abono, a farming community in the Bosomtwe District are living in fear after strange snakes invaded the community.
According to a MyNewsGh.com report sighted by YEN.com.gh, the situation which begun last month has escalated with more snakes spotted in various locations within the community.
Residents claimed on Kumasi-based Abusua FM that, over 60 of such snakes have so far been killed in homes of residents which is giving most of them sleepless nights though no bites have been recorded.
70-year-old Nana Kwame Gyimah revealed that though it is not the first time the community is experiencing snake invasion, this year has been the worst.
“I have killed 3 snakes in my house. Two in my bedroom and one in my kitchen. Sometimes we even afraid to sleep because of the snakes. As you can see people are sleeping near the lake all because they couldn’t sleep last night because of the snakes,” he said.
The Ashanti Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director Hon. Kwabena Nsenkyire has told newsmen that measures have been put in place to bring the situation under control.
NADMO in collaboration with Moder Pest has embarked on fumigation exercise in the community to wipe off the snakes in the community.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh, has reported a story of family of six in one vehicle swept away by floods at Esereso, a town near the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi.
The six, according to reports, met the unfortunate fate at about 1am on Friday dawn following a heavy downpour the previous night.
