- Joshua Alabi is one of about 10 aspirants who has expressed interest in contesting the elections
- Alabi's campaign team are mindful of the fact that the party will put on a posture that looks like it is in support of Mahama
The campaign team for the candidacy of Professor Joshua Alabi for the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed misgivings about the party showing a bias for Former President John Mahama.
According to the members of Prof Alabi's campaign team, there is the need for the national executives to try and seal all the ways it may look like Mahama is the pre-ordained flagbearer. This was contained in a report on 3news.com, sighted by YEN.com.gh.
For Prof Alabi's campaign team, the use of songs and paraphernalia that were dedicated to John Mahama because of the 2016 elections, should be off limits for this year's flagbearer race.

The NDC is gearing up for its presidential primary on December 7, 2018. And so in an address to the press in Accra on Thursday, the campaign team reportedly said functions of the NDC “should be strictly party messages and songs.”
Over 10 aspirants have reportedly submitted letters of intent. However, the front-runner is seen to be John Mahama, having led the party into two general elections in the last decade.
But the spokesperson for the Alabi campaign, Victor Kojogah Adawudu reportedly said: “We from the Alabi camp believe that our support base, the grassroots and others, feel that we need a new message. We need a new leader.”
