Ghanaians will have the opportunity to pay final respects to the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that this will be followed by the filing past and the paying of last respects by dignitaries on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.
The late Kofi Annan’s final funeral rights will then be held on Thursday, September 2018 at 9am, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the same venue where the previous activities will be held.
Kofi Annan passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Bern, Switzerland. Rising through the ranks of the United Nations (UN), he served as the 7th Secretary-General, from January 1997 till December 2006.
In the year 2001, he co-won the Nobel Peace Prize with the UN. He was the founder and chairman of the Kofi Annan Foundation, as well as chairman of The Elders, an international organization founded by Nelson Mandela.
