- The woman in labour was seen in a viral video being carried on a cane chair to cross a river
- It is unclear if the delay in getting her to the hospital contributed to the stillbirth as she had to travel some 20 kilometers to reach the nearest health facility
A pregnant woman has suffered a miscarriage after she had to be carried across a river before reaching a delivery center.
The sad incident is reported to have happened at Nangurma in the Northern Region, when the woman in labour was being transported to Yezhisi for delivery.
Reports suggest that the woman had to travel some 20 kilometers to reach the nearest health facility, leading to a stillbirth.
A video of some men trying to get the woman across a river to the health facility has since gone viral on social media.
In the said video, the men are seen carrying the pregnant woman on a cane chair to cross a river in order to reach a hospital by a motorbike.
More appalling is the information that a health facility has been established in the village since 2016 but is yet to be commissioned for use.
This has been a huge problem for residents, who have to travel long distances to other neighbouring villages whenever they and their children need medical care.
The development has driven Ghanaians crazy on social media. Below are some of the rage by Ghanaians;
