Man arrested for stealing MPs’ toilet roll at Parliament House

A 49-year-old unemployed man has been arrested for allegedly stealing toilet rolls belonging to Members of Parliament (MPs).

The suspect is reported to have stolen two bundles of toilet rolls reserved specifically for legislators.

According to a report by MyNewsGh.com, the man sneaked into the Job 600 offices of lawmakers through the lifts and entered one washroom after another in search of unused bundles of toiletries.

He was, however, spotted walking out of the gates with the bundles of toilet roll in hand, sparking suspicion.

Upon interrogation from security personnel stationed at the gates, an alarm was raised leading to his arrest.

The police has confirmed that the suspect is not a worker at Parliament and neither did he enter the building as a visitor.

Meanwhile, investigations have begun into the matter, as the police try to ascertain how he was able to enter the law-making house.

Since the story broke, some Ghanaians on social media have described the arrest of the man as absurd.

Rather, most of them believe he should be immediately released and helped to find a better job to do.

Your leaders are stealing physical cash and walking free and this poor man stole t roll u catch am? Release him,” one user wrote.

Another added: “Too many T rolls there, enough to set him up at Kasoa toll booth. Why should he continue to wait for Honourable for promised job. He needs to work.”
