6 suspects in police custody for stealing church items

- 6 suspects have been arrested with regard to theft cases in churches in the Eastern Region

- The suspects include a 56-year-old woman known as Esther Achiaa

- According to police officials, they will soon be sent to the court for the sentences to be passed

Police officials in the Eastern Region have picked up 6 suspects for stealing some items belonging to churches.

YEN.com.gh understands that the suspects were involved in a series of church break-ins and theft cases in Kwahu Bepong and Mpraeso, both in the region.

According to sources, one of the suspects is a 56-year-old woman, who was identified as Esther Achiaa.

The suspects were picked up in a police swoop after intelligence was gathered to that effect.

Speaking on the matter, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, called on the general public to volunteer information to the police to carry out their mandate effectively.

“Today September 17th,2018, at around 5.50am, DSP Mr. Daniel Azugu, in charge of police operation team, arrested 6 suspects, including Ernest Ofosu Appiah age 35, Collins Kissi age 18, Kwasi Appiah age 23, Kennedy Boamah age 27, Anim Foster age 18, Yaw Darkwah age 36 and Esther Achiaa age 56, and reported that intelligence gathered indicated that the said suspects, who were arrested at their various hideouts at Mpreaso and Bepong, are behind the recent stealing cases within Kwahu enclave.”

He went ahead to say that items such as 8 pieces of amplifiers, a standing lamb, an iPad, 6 laptops, colour printer, digital receiver, a spraying gun, a roaster, a digital recorder, two computer CD, one keyboard and one guitar were retrieved from the suspects.

DSP Tetteh disclosed that the suspects are in custody and will soon be processed before the court.

He further advised residents to assist the police with reliable information to arrest criminals.
