The odds seem to be going against Menzgold Ghana Limited with each passing day following a latest investigation into the company’s dealings in the United Kingdom (UK).
The gold dealership firm has been in the news in recent weeks following disagreements with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) regarding its operations.
The latest development is that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has asked the company to shut down its gold trading activities.

But although the embattled company still retains the confidence of some Ghanaians, it remains unclear whether it will come out of this case unscathed.
A short investigation conducted by Joy News’ Israel Laryea has revealed that the Menzgold office in the UK is not actually engaging in the same business as it does in Ghana.
The journalist visited the Menzgold office in London but said the gold dealership firm occupies just a small space in the Berkely Square House building.
However, he disclosed that he met only two ladies at the Menzgold office, and that it was the only clue about the company’s existence in the UK.
It will be recalled that in July last year, the CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, posted a photo of he and his staff walking in front of the Berkely Square House following the launch of the gold dealership company.
