A star-studded cast featuring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper has brought this romantic flick to the limelight for many. It follows a young lady on her journey as a singer and actress with the help of an old musician. He is out of time as age and alcoholism devour his career, he helps her build hers. It has received many positive reviews giving insight to the entertainment industry while letting the audience decide for itself what is good and what is bad. The film has the highest rating on IMDb coming in at a solid 9.
2. Love, Simon
A little on edge most of the time this movie was made to keep you tense. Simon, played by Nick Robinson, is a perfectly normal teen, except for the massive secret he has hidden in his closet, alongside him. He is gay. He keeps this from his family, his friends and literally everyone around him. He is forced to eventually confront his identity and let others know as he starts to fall for a mysterious person called Blue. He is working his way around finding out who Blue is and as he does this, he has to come out of the closet too. Rated 7.7 on IMDb this is sure to be a great romantic comedy.
A group hotel interns are hard at work when an accident leads to the hospitalization of one of them and this changes everything. Dan, an intern was not there that day and gets stuck trying to understand why she asked for him on the day of her accident. He embarks on an obsessive search for an answer to why she wanted him that day. This leads to a love so tragic you will shed more tears than you will like to admit. The movie is rated 7.6 on IMDb.
4. Crazy Rich Asians
Over a year passes as two lovebirds secretly grow their affection for each other. The one thing standing between them and a happily ever after is the family of Nicolas Young. Nick Young’s family is filthy rich, Rachel’s is not. It is a family of elitists that see Nick’s new love as insufficient for their status. The movie follows the story of how their love is challenged by these opposing tides and how she must master the courage to not only prove herself but earn their respect. It is a wonderfully relaxed movie that will not have you holding on to the edge of your seat but rather enjoying the classic romantic comedy that it is. The film is rated 7.5 on IMDb and is one the best romantic comedies this year.
5. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is a very endearing love story. It’s about a teenage girl, who is relatively shy and writes letters to her crushes in secret. Her life is upturned when all these letters are sent to the objects of her desire. She has to contend with the intense social pressures that arise after that and we follow her as the story of how she finds love unfolds on the big screen. The movie, based on a novel of the same name by author Jenny Han, has received extremely high praises from critics and fans alike and the positive reviews just keep coming. This movie is well on track to being one of the best love films of the late 2010’s and this year as well. The film has a rating of 7.4 on IMDb, making it one of the top 10 romantic movies this year.
6. Us and Them
Over the span of ten years, follow the most adorable young couple in their journey of love and heartbreak and love again. This is underselling the story. The main characters meet on a train each with their own personal struggles and get to know each other on the Chinese New Year. They manage to make their love work somehow in these random slots of time together. They fall in and out of love and at the end, they, meet again. You will have to read subtitles throughout the whole movie unless you speak Chinese but it is worth it. It is one of the great romance movies from Asia this year. The movie has a rating of 7.3 on IMDb.

7. Midnight Sun
This is one of the most unique stories ever told in romantic films. It is about a girl that has lived her whole life indoors. She has a rare disease that makes her allergic to sunlight and so she only gets out at night. Clearly a lonely existence she has lived her life looking out at the world through her bedroom window and fallen in love with a passerby for lack of a better word. She meets the love of her life and everything changes as their romance grows. You follow her struggle with trying to have a normal existence in a very strange life and keeping her condition secret. One of the best movies about love this year and still a tragically comical emotional journey. The film is rated 6.6 on IMDb.
8. Set It Up
Another new take on romance, this movie is very touching and makes for a fun watch. It is definitely one of the great movies for couples as you get to see the main characters find ways they could set up their bosses. It follows two assistants desperate to get out from under the pressure of their bosses who decide to loosen them up a little by setting them up. There is, however, an unexpected turn of events as the two characters end up on an even more beautiful journey finding love themselves. The film is rated 6.5 on IMDb.
9. Every Day
A teenager falls in love with someone that is a different person every day. Each day the love of her life wakes up in a new person’s body. The same age as the other but different genders and never the same person. It is like falling for a new person every day, yet it's the same person. It is a journey of love and understanding human existence as both of them live through different aspects of life the best way they can every day. It blurs the lines of sexual orientation and brings a whole new meaning perspective to love. The movie is rated at 6.3 on IMDb.
10. The Kissing Booth
Two best friends make a promise to each other to never date each other siblings. What happens when one of them betrays a lifelong trust.. The Kissing Booth has one of the cheesiest plots of all the romantic movies this year and it is better for it. It is both funny and endearing and will have you loving each character and understanding how they all see things differently. An emotional roller coaster of family drama and young love, it is sure to keep you entertained. One of the recommended films for couples it is sure to stir things up as the young couple sneaks around to keep their love a secret. The movie is rated at 6.2 on IMDb.
11. Sierra Burgess is a Loser
Mistaken identity and possibly a ‘catfish’ bring together the school’s biggest loser, Sierra Burgess and the most popular girl together to win over their crushes. Sierra Burgess finds herself pretending to be someone else and falling in love with her crush. She is faced with the problem of telling him who she really is and risking losing her chance at being with him, as herself. Sierra Burgess is a Loser in intense and will have you rooting for them both to win in no time. It is funny and emotional making adding another movie to the list of nice romantic movies of the year. The movie is rated 6.2 on IMDb.
A filthy rich and spoiled owner of a yacht has an unfortunate accident at sea and loses all his memory. He then becomes the target of an ingenious yet very risky revenge plot by a disgruntled hired hand he mistreated. The main character has three kids and convinces the rich guy that she is, in fact, his wife and he is the adopted father of their kids. She forces him to live life on the other side of the fence working three jobs a day. The film has a relatively low score on IMDb coming in at 5.9 but will sure get a tear or more out of you and that experience is what puts it on this list.
