Football is a game of chance in as much as players celebrate whenever they hit the back of the net, fans also jubilate whenever a goal is scored.

1. Asamoah Gyan’s late penalty miss against Uruguay
Luis Suarez’ handball denied Dominic Adiyiah from scoring a late minute extra time goal and Asamoah Gyan subsequently missed the resultant penalty kick to prevent Ghana from becoming the African country to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup.
2. Failure to win AFCON 2008
Ghana failed to win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) when they hosted the tournament. Nkong stunned Ghana with a second half goal for Cameroon in the semi-finals.
3. 1992 Cup of Nations in Senegal
Ghana lost the 1992 African Cup final to West African rivals, Ivory Coast via 11-10 marathon penalty shootout in Senegal.
4. 2013 AFCON
Emmanuel Mayuka scored late goal for Zambia against Ghana, after Asamoah Gyan had missed from the spot kick in the early minutes of the semi-finals.
5. 2015 AFCON
Ghana lost the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to Ivory Coast through a penalty shootout. The Black Stars scored their first two kicks, whereas Ivory Coast wasted the first two, but threw away the advantage to see their West African rivals beat them again to lift the coveted trophy.

6. Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup
Ghana could not qualify for their fourth straight World Cup after losing the sole ticket to Egypt. Ghana won only one game out of the six games.
