Menzgold Ghana Limited has set out a payment schedule starting Friday, September 28, 2018, to pay customers their dividends.
The company has so far taken legal action against the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) following weeks of inconclusive discussions.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the gold dealership firm said customers that were trading with them until September 12 will be paid.
Explaining this, Corporate Affairs Manager of Menzgold, Nana Yaw Ofei said persons who invested with them after September 12 will not be paid any returns because the company’s Gold Vault services were suspended during that period.
He stated that customers can start visiting their respective branches starting Friday to demand their matured investment.
“… We’ve set out a payment schedule starting tomorrow [Friday] to be circulated to all our customers. Customers are encouraged to only visit their branch on the date for their collection as the schedule will be strictly adhered to, to avoid crowding at the branches,” Mr. Yaw Ofei told the media.
“It is pertinent to note however that the period starting Wednesday 12th September to date while the Gold Vault Market has remained forcefully shut by the SEC regrettably shall not attract any forms of returns whatsoever, as the business of the gold trade has been and still is dormant.”
This development is set to restore calm among customers who had started to agitate for fear of losing their investments.
Also, Menzgold’s suit against the BoG and SEC is geared towards obtaining a court order to restrain the two bodies from interfering in its business.
