- According to Ms Gloria Akuffo, the Special Prosecutor is not being honest with the Ghanaian public about what the Attorney General is doing for him
- Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has said the government has not furnished him with the necessary equipment
The Attorney General (AG) Ms Gloria Akuffo has slammed the Special Prosecutor for what she believes are his misleading statements on how his office is being equipped to work. According to the AG, Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu is a loudmouth.
In a Starr News interview initially reported by MyNewsGh.com, the Attorney General said she was surprised by Amidu’s public outburst.
In recent weeks, Mr Martin Amidu has complained about neglect and how he has had to use his own “common sense” in the absence of a subsidiary legislation and resources, both cash and human to help him.
Amidu intimated that President Akufo-Addo was not whipping his appointees in line with his anti-corruption vision because his work as Special Prosecutor is being frustrated.
He even went on and gave himself up until June 2019 to see things sort themselves before he was out the job.
But in the interview with Starr, Attorney General Akuffo said: “I have held meetings with him [Amidu] that requires sharing ideas about the goings on in the banking industry.
We have shared ideas about how we should go about investigating and prosecuting it, there’s no time that he had sought to speak with me that I haven’t spoken to him.”
She continued: "So if you begin to speak like that, it is as though the impression has been created that I have been virulent in my duty to set up that office."
