- The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC), Prof. Seth Opuni Asiamah, has called on Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, to return all salaries paid to him
- He explained that Amidu does not deserve all the salaries paid to him for no work done
- His call comes after Amidu disclosed that his office is not adequately resourced to work
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC), Prof. Seth Opuni Asiamah, has claimed that it is wrong for Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu to complain of lack of resources to work with.
In an interview with Ultimate FM, he said Amidu must return all salaries paid to him by the government since he assumed office.
This, he explained, is because Amidu has done no work, and therefore does not deserve the salaries paid to him.
Prof. Asiamah’s comments follow remarks by Amidu, with regard to resources needed to execute his mandate.
Amidu, speaking at a National Audit Forum organised by the Ghana Audit Service, reportedly expressed frustration over the lack of legislation, logistics and other resources eight months after he was sworn into office.
He also accused ministers of refusing to offer him the kind of support he requires to be able to deliver on his mandate.
Prof. Asiamah however disagreed, saying that it is wrong for Amidu to presume someone needs to resource his office for him to effectively work.
He explained that Amidu is fully aware of how the system works, and for that reason, he should not expect assistance from anyone before he does his work.
