- The La Palm Beach Hotel is reported to have told some members of her staff that her relationship with the President will keep her in her role
- Abena Pokua Amoah is facing accusations of mismanaging the establishment which is majorly owned by SSNIT
The General Manager of La Palm Beach Hotel, Abena Pokua Amoah, has reportedly told her staff in explicit terms that her relationship with President Nana Akufo-Addo is certainly going to shield her any scandal.
Mynewsgh.com reports that in a letter endorsed by all staff of the hotel addressed to the Director-General of SSNIT (Social Security and National Insurance Trust), the complaints on Ms Amoah ranged from arrogance to incompetence.
Ms Amoah is thought to have once boasted to personnel that she contributed to the 2016 election campaign of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). It is there fore seen that her appointment was a quid pro quo fulfillment.
The President is under enormous pressure to defend some of his policies. A growing resentment has also been happening over what some fear are the failure to actualise promises from 2016.
The letter reportedly written by the staff of the hotel reportedly reads: “When the General Secretary of ICU Ghana called the Managing Director on phone to book appointment for discussion on the issues…"
...she declined and indicated that she had a busy week and that she was moving with His Excellency the President on some ‘errands’.”
It is uncertain if the accusations leveled against Ms Amoah will cause her job. Indeed, Ghanaians have known in the recent past, government appointees who have cited executive backing for unpopular actions.
