- The heavy downpour in parts of the capital caused some areas in Accra to flood
- The movement of vehicles and pedestrians got impeded by the floods which flushed out plastic garbage from clogged drains onto the streets
Some areas in Accra fell victim to heavy floods following a downpour on Monday, October 1, 2018.
A few minutes after the rains, several roads and households became flooded, in what has become a routine occurrence in the capital city.
While gutters were choked and overflowing, motorists also struggled to move due to the floods extending to the streets.
Areas like Dansoman, Shiashie, Kaneshie, Adabraka, the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Ring Road Central and Darkuman were all drowned in the floods following yesterday’s heavy downpour.
Meanwhile, in areas where the floods subsided, a sea of debris, plastics and rubbish could be seen scattered around.
In June, a similar downpour in Accra led to the death of ten people after the certain parts of the city got flooded.
Also, three persons were reported death at Sokpoe in the Volta region after they were 'shocked' during a recent downpour.
