The United States (US) Embassy in Ghana has announced the opening of this year’s Diversity Visa program for all interested applicants.
The Diversity Visa Lottery, also referred to as Green Card Lottery, is an annual program run by the US government to make Permanent Resident cards available to some persons.
Each year, over 55,000 persons from “underrepresented countries” who meet the basic eligibility requirements are issued with Permanent Resident cards in the US.
Winners of the Green Card Lottery gain authorization to live, study and work in the United States of America as permanent residents.
In a statement on Facebook, the US Embassy to Ghana said the Diversity Visa program is now open for interested applicants.
The statement said the program is open from October 3 to November 6, adding that interested persons can applythrough dvlottery.state.gov.
The Embassy, however, warmed prospective applicants to be wary of scammers who try to charge them.
“The #DV2020 Diversity Visa program is open for entry from October 3 – November 6. The ONLY way to enter is through dvlottery.state.gov.Avoid being disqualified and only submit ONE entry per person. Keep your unique confirmation number so later you can check the status of the entry. There is NO fee to enter the lottery. Beware of scams saying otherwise!”
Applications will be accepted until 16:00 hours Universal Time on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 through the online portal - www.dvlottery.state.gov.
Meanwhile, entrants of the 2017 and 2018 DV Lottery can check their entry status on the same portal.
