I paid GHC 123k as bride price for Pokello - Elikem
Ghanaian actor and fashion designer, Elikem Kumordzi, and his Zimbabwean wife, Pokello Nare are reported to be in court seeking to divorce after some years of being together.
YEN.com.gh has sighted a report from June 23, 2015, which revealed how much the Ghanaian actor paid as bride price before being given the hand of Pokello in marriage.
After confirming to Peacefmonline.com that he had indeed gotten married to Pokello in Zimbabwe, Elikem went on to reveal that he paid GHC 123,000 (approximately $25,000) as bride price.

In breaking the figure down, Elikem indicated that he paid $20,000 during the traditional marriage ceremony and was to pay the balance of $5,000 during the white wedding.
According to Elikem, the very private traditional marriage ceremony took place in Zimbabwe on Saturday June 20.
“I paid a lot of money and before you pay such money for a lady’s hand in marriage you have to be sure she’s the one. Otherwise you will be a silly young man throwing a lot of money away. So it feels good to be married to the right woman. It feels amazing. No mistakes or regrets whatsoever,” Elikem revealed.
According to him, he did not want to divulge information on the bride price to the media but he saw many people quoting wrong figures and he sought to correct it.
“I initially didn’t want to make this information public but people are getting figures wrong so I want to correct it. The lobola (Bride price for a traditional marriage in Zimbabwe) was 25,000 US Dollars. A deposit of 20,000 US Dollars was paid on Saturday and the 5,000 US Dollars balance is to be paid by the white wedding”.
Elikem revealed in the interview that according to Zimbabwean culture, a couple had to wait months or even years before having their white wedding, so the date for their white wedding was not known yet as at the time of the interview.

He went on to mention some of the people who flew with him to the traditional marriage in Zimbabwe. The list Ghana’s ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Mr. Sylvanus Tamakloe, included his mother, his grandmother, his brothers, cousins, his sister, his spiritual father Elder Maxwell and a few close friends.
Elikem met Pokello who was representing Zimbabwe during his time in the Big Brother Africa 2013 house in South Africa.
The two fell in love and after being together for almost a year, Elikem proposed to his Zimbabwean girlfriend publicly at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards when they went on stage to present an award.
After their public show of love with that romantic proposal on national television the love birds were hit with a number of scandals including allegations that Elikem was having secret romantic affair with ex-wife of former Black Stars player Odartey Lamptey.
There were also several rumours that the couple had separated after Elikem was reportedly spotted without his wedding ring.
