- A group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Obuasi (CCO) is asking the President to investigate what they allege to be fraud in the Municipal Assembly
- The group has pointed the finger at the Chief Executive, Elijah Adansi Bonah, for the alleged misconduct
The Municipal Chief Executive of Obuasi, Elijah Adansi Bonah has been cited by some citizens as bloating the monies on infrastructural contracts in Obuasi. The issue was raised by a group known as the Concerned Citizens of Obuasi.
According to Mynewsgh.com, on the issue of bloated contracts, these citizens sited construction of fence wall at the MCE’s residence at GHC 131,959.
The head of the group, Peter Kingsford also cited that 4.70-kilometer road which was just reshaped within three days at the cost of GHC 71,312. 40.
He argued that GHC 30,000 would have been enough for such a project.
The group is quoted as saying: “The Concern Citizens of Obuasi having to be (sic) privileged to site a copy of the budget finds the amount quoted in some executed contracts to be outrageous.”
“Bad roads have made driving very unbearable as they have become death trap for commuters.
Drivers have become reluctant to transport market women in their activities, creating an economic hardship to people in the community.”
The group have appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to intercede in what they called a clear case of fraud and embezzlement.
