- Months ago, Donald Trump reportedly described African countries and Haiti as "shithole countries"
The first lady of the United States of America (USA), Melania Trump, has jumped to her husband’s defense with regard to his description of the African continent.
Donald Trump became the subject of media debates months ago when he reportedly described African countries and Haiti as shithole countries.
Trump’s comment followed news of a Ghanaian soldier, Emmanuel Mensah, who risked his life to save people trapped by fire in the USA.
A number of people, including Former President John Mahama demanded that leaders of the African Union (AU) rise and protest against the comment.
Trump is reported to have later denied he used foul language against African countries and Haiti.
Interacting with the media in Egypt, Melania is reported to have said that “I never heard him say those comments and I will leave it at that.”
She went ahead to say that the only message America wished to send to the world is that “we care.”
The USA first lady is in Egypt as part of her four-nation African tour to promote her “Be best” child welfare initiative. She previously paid visits to Ghana, Kenya and Malawi.
