- Former President Rawlings is of the view that the current head of state deserves respect because he is cultured
- Rawlings contrasted Akufo-Addo with other Ghanaian presidents whom he did not name but called hypocrites
Former President Jeremiah John Rawlings says that current Ghana leader Nana Akufo-Addo is man worthy of respect because he is "cultured."
Rawlings contrasted and seemingle preferred Akufo-Addo to others who have occupied the position.
This is according to an initial report by Mynewsgh.com which claims to have a copy of an audio recording of an interview involving the ex-Ghana leader.
Rawlings is the founder of the leading opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). However, in the past decade, Rawlings has been very critical of any other president except for Nana Akufo-Addo.

Rawlings is quoted as saying of Akufo-Addo that he is not like some former presidents who are “uncultured hypocrites and wicked creatures.”
“… Somebody that we should respect, but some people seem to have a problem with him but I just keep saying that he (Akufo-Addo) is one cultured head of state …” the NDC founder reportedly said.
He went on: “We have a few uncultured ones, hypocrites, wicked creatures…I don’t love him, but he is cultured …”
The seeming great appreciation Rawlings has for Nana Akufo-Addo has divided his party and caused anger among many of its supporters.
