- 15 people have been hospitalized after being involved in an accident in the Northern Region
- They reportedly boarded a bus which was used to convey people to welcome Former President John Mahama
- They are currently receiving treatment at the West Gonja Hospital
Some supporters of Former President John Mahama have been reportedly hospitalized after an accident in the Northern Region.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, the incident occurred near Busunu in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region.
The victims sustained various degrees of injuries after the TATA mini bus in which they were travelling to usher Mahama into Daboya, and later Damongo, was involved in an accident.
The bus, with registration number GE 5642-17 belonged to AY Transport, was used as part of Mahama’s campaign tour of the Northern Region.
YEN.com.gh understands that as a result of rains that fell on Saturday, October 6, 2018, the road became slippery.
As a result the vehicle skidded off the main road, causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
Account by victims revealed that but for the experience of the driver, the situation could have turned out worse.
All victims are currently at the West Gonja Hospital receiving treatment while those with minor injuries have been treated and discharged.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon Adam Mutawakilu visited and sympathized with accident victims and called on all drivers to be cautious on the road to avoid any such incident in future.
