The Ekumfi Traditional Council in the Central Region has reportedly imposed a fine on the chief and the people of Ekumfi Eyisam.

The fine, consisting of GHC10,000, a live cow and a crate of schnapps, are to be paid to atone for the assault of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Kingsley Ato Cudjoe.

The assembly man for the area, Hon. Ebenezer Ebonyi, said that the elders of the town are in a fix as they consider the sanctions to be too harsh.

According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, the people have therefore pleaded for a reduction of the amount to GHC5000.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Hon. Cudjoe was hooted at and heckled by people in the community during the celebration of the annual Akwambo festival on September 8, 2018.

The timely intervention of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Bernard Paa Grant, and a police officer, saved the situation.

This was because the people were of the opinion that he has failed because he had not fulfilled most of the promises made to them.
