Monaco have announced the sacking of managed Leonardo Jardim after four years with the French club.

In a club statement, Jardim announced his exit while thanking the club for his four year stay with them.

"I'm grateful and proud to have been Monaco coach for more than four years. I've always given my very best and worked with passion. We achieved some great victories together and I'll always keep those memories." his statement read.

The 44-year old’s departure now paves way for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who has been tipped to take over at the Stade Louis II.

Jardim's position in Monaco has been under scrutiny since August after the club made a faulty start to the new campaign whilst bookmarkers expected them to be competing for the title with runaway leaders PSG.

However, with only one win from nine matches, questions were raised on whether Jardim was the right person to take the club forward.

Arsenal's all time goal scorer Thierry Henry who rejected several managerial approaches including championship side Aston Villa, now looks well placed to take over at his boyhood club.

Monaco Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Vadim Vasilyev acknowledged Jardim's time at the French club as historic.

"I want to thank Leonardo with deepest respect for all the work he has done," Vasilyev's said.

Quite notably, Portuguese boss Jardim was responsible for the revival of Monaco, winning the title in 2017 - their first since 2000.
