President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism that the newly-created initiative for job creation, Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), will flourish to shame the “cynics and pessimists”.
Ghana's president, Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed the hope that the National Builders' Corps will help mitigate the crisis of unemployment in the country.
The President also had harsh words for those he felt were detractors of his government. He described them as cynics and pessimists.
YEN.com.gh brings you photos from the event.
Government numbers say that 100,000 people were registered for the first batch of the programme. However, it was clear that not all of them were at the Independence Square on Wednesday.
From the photos, it may be said that participants were happy to begin life out of unemployment, at least.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion included ministers of state. As seen in the photo below are Mr John Alan Kyeremanteng and Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
Also in attendance was Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia.
As has been associated with Ghanaian politics, benefactors of government interventions carry signages thanking the president of the day for his efforts.
The National Builders' Corps is divided into various modules.
Modules include Digitise Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Heal Ghana and Educate Ghana.
The President announced that NABCO is the first of some radical government efforts that will help to change the face of the economy.
