Aguero scores as Manchester City thrash Burnley by 5-0 at the Etihad

- Manchester City score five unreplied goals against Burnley at the Etihad

- Aguero, Silva, Fernandinho, Mahrez and Sane were among the scorers

- The Citizens remain on top of the Premier League table with 23 points

Manchester City remain top of the Premier League as they consolidated their position with a 5-0 thrashing of Burnley at the Etihad.

City's all time topscorer Sergio Aguero got the curtain raiser for the men in sky blue in the 17th minute courtesy of a David Silva's assist.

Silva provided his second assist of the match as Portugal intentional Bernardo Silva extended the Citizen's lead in the 53th minute to make it 2-0.

Three minutes later Burnley conceded their third goal in the match as Fernandinho made it 3-0 for Pep Guardiola's side.

Fernandinho was instrumental to City's fourth goal as Riyad Mahrez also gets his name on the scoresheet to make it 4-0 in the 83rd minute.

Before the blast of the final whistle Leroy Sane completed the rout as he made it 5-0 after benefiting from Benjamin Mendy's assist.

City are two points clear of Chelsea with 23 points as the Blues were held to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge by Manchester United.

Guadriola's men will take on Tottenham in their next Premier League fixture at the Wembley Stadium on Monday, October 29.
