- Akufo-Addo has opened up on earlier rumours that he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital
- The president, however, revealed that he went to visit a relation who had undergone a surgery
- He went on to tell those making news out of the rumour that his life was in God's hands
President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has stated that those whose political fortunes depend on his ill health should know that his life is in the hands of God.
According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Graphic.com.gh, the president made the comment at the launch of this year's cyber security awareness week at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra.
President Nana Addo was reacting to speculation on social media that he had collapsed and had been taken to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra at the weekend and that he was to be flown to the United Kingdom (UK) for treatment.
The introductory comment before his address at the launch of the cyber security awareness week, on Monday morning, captured President Akufo-Addo reaction as he went to the hospital to visit an in-law.
He said the in-law had a hip operation and so he went there for a visit only for the news to spread that he had collapsed and taken to the hospital.
“My presence at the Military Hospital to visit my brother-in-law, the famous pilot, Captain Pius Mensah, who is unfortunately there for a hip operation, has been translated into my collapse on social media.
"All I can say is that those whose political fortunes depend on my ill health and my degeneration, all I can say is that we are all in the hands of God, Amen”, he said.
It was alleged that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had collapsed last week and had been rushed to the 37 Military Hospital.
The rumour had it that the president was to be rushed to UK after receiving preliminary treatment from 37 Hospital.
